M&M Cookies in a Jar

Wide-mouth quart jar
1 1/4 C. sugar
1 C. M&Ms
2 C. flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. baking powder

Mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.  Layer in the jar sugar, M&Ms, then flour mixture.  As you add each layer, pack it down firmly.  This is great to get your kids involved in, since they can stir the flour mixture and with clean hands, help pack down the ingredients.  Then they can be proud when they give it to a neighbor!

For the jar gift tag:
Preheat oven to 375.  Empty mix into large mixing bowl; stir mixture to combine ingredients.  Add 3/4 C. softened butter, 2 slightly beaten eggs, and 1 tsp. of vanilla; mix until completely blended together.
Roll dough into small 1-inch balls.  Place 2 inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 375 for 12-14 min., until edges are lightly browned.  Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet, then place cookies on wire racks to cool completely.  Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
